This document provides a specification of the telephone speech databases to be collected by the industrial partners in the SpeechDat project in 8 languages - Danish, English, French, Swiss French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.
This deliverable concerns the final actions within the workpackage 1 of the MLAP SpeechDat project. The main goal of WP1 was to prepare the ground for the production and dissemination of speech databases dedicated to train speech recognizers for telephone applications. In order to achieve realistic results, in a case study a few databases have been produced.
This deliverable describes the assessment of the quality of selected state-of-the-art speech databases and it gives recommendations for procedures to detect errors and to improve the quality of future spoken language resources.
This report concentrates on current scientific applications of spoken language corpora in the Speech and Hearing sciences in general. It discusses, under a number of headings the scientific potential of spoken language corpora, the extent to which such potential is currently realised in existing corpora, and identifies areas where future corpora could have important scientific application.
This text describes hardware/software platforms for telephone speech collection. It will also touch upon issues of recording procedures and protocols that could be useful for collecting telephone speech.
This deliverable report documents the specification of an agreed and prioritised set of databases needed in the short to mid-term within Europe.
Topics adressed: physical recordings, physical conditions, linguistic contents, database and storage issues, transcription and validation, assessment.
This document presents a list of guidelines for validation procedures to be carried out in order to ascertain a certain quality standard of spoken language resources to be distributed by the ELRA. The methods proposed are chosen such that they are a good balance between achievable quality standards and associated costs of the validation procedure.
